¡“EARTH to San Diego” Handbook Release Party + Workshop!

We're excited to announce our very first book, E.A.R.T.H. to San Diego, is finally HERE! The Essential Artist Resource and Technology Handbook explores one of the most biodiverse regions in the world (San Diego!) through the lens of craft. It's a celebration of the regional biomaterials and vernacular design found all over this region. From giant kelp to plastic waste, this handbook shares how to source and create your own art supplies using local materials.

We've spent over a year and a half working hard on this encyclopedia-style handbook in collaboration with Patagonia and ARTS (A Reason to Survive), a non-profit in National City that provides free art classes to the community. From hiking all over this region studying plants, speaking with Kumeyaay community members, and learning from various researchers, we've compiled a lot of information that we are extremely proud to share with you.

Join us for a family-friendly, covid-safe, immersive celebration. Learn to make leather from kelp, how plastic waste can be turned into art, and all about natural dyes from the amazing Dogwood Dyer.

There will also be limited-edition collectible hardcover copies of the handbook for sale.

Drinks provided by Guayaki. And DJ set by Los Lili.

Adult and kid-friendly; available in 1 hour windows from 2-6pm. Pre-registration required.

A portion of proceeds of all sales will fund teaching the next generation of artists how to create their own art materials. Tune into our Instagram for a livestream of the event throughout the day.
