During San Diego Design Week, cakes by Arely Chavez of volcanoamor will be available for pre-order through Home Ec with pick up at the shop Saturday, September 11 11am-3pm. Three-layer 5” zucchini/olive oil cakes with carmelized white chocolate buttercream will feature locally sourced zucchinis from Pixca, a POC farmer-owned co-op in South Bay San Diego, and California Olive Oil by Fat Gold, a woman-owned, independent small batched producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Home Ec is a culinary shop for home cooks located in the Little Italy neighborhood. Volcanoamor and Home Ec enjoy a collaborative partnership in which they each honor and seek out small producers, locally grown produce, and BIPOC-led organizations and creatives to support and source from.

Arely Chavez of volcanoamor creates pastries which are a celebration of community and sources from people she knows and small, thoughtful farms and producers.
